Six Sigma Black Belts

So why do I need to be a Black Belts  ?

There are a number of people and responsibilities involved in Six Sigma

Deployment Leader

The Six Sigma Deployment leader is the most important member of the team. The deployment leader is often a senior member of staff who reports to a corporate level.

The deployment leader ensures alignment of cooperate goals and the business unit development. They will help select Champions, black belts, green belts and yellow belts.

They will be responsible for:

  • Being directly responsible for Six sigma Results

  • Driving the mission and vision of Six Sigma in the organisation

  • Removing Barriers to ensure success

  • Providing publicity for the Six Sigma activities

  • Maintaining the program

  • Integrating with Lean Manufacturing teams

Six Sigma Champions

Six Sigma Champions are directly responsible for the delivery of Six Sigma Knowledge. They deploy and develop plans  to ensure the success of Six Sigma.

  • They will be responsible for:

  • Identifies, selects and assigns six sigma projects to align with the organisations objectives

  • Selects the Black, Green and yellow belts

  • Supports the belts, removes barriers, secures resources and coaches

  • Provides a constant stream of work for the Master Black belts and other belts to ensure they are fully occupied

  • Promotes Six Sigma and best practices

Master Black Belts and Black Belts

Solving Six Sigma problems requires varying levels of skill.

  • Solving Complicated problems will require detailed statistical expertise  (Black belts)

  • Solving Moderate complexity issues, or assisting in the solution of complicated problems, requires medium skill levels (Green Belts)

  • Simpler problems will require simple statistical skills (Yellow Belt)

Master Black belts are hands on experts who also teach and mentor Black, Green and Yellow belts. They also act as mentors on fundamental business issues as well as specific projects.

The Black belt are the most highly trained employees of Six Sigma tools and methods. They will usually operate in a full time capacity as a Six Sigma employee

Green Belts.

The Six Sigma Green Belts are training and skilled to solve the majority of process problems and will often work for a Black Belt. Green belts are often process leaders, operational specialists, managers who have a significant level of skills to solve moderate problems

Yellow Belts

Every one can apply a level of Six Sigma problem solving and improve their work environment. They will assist green and black belts on larger more complex problems.

Being A Six Sigma Black belt is not a marshal art but a core skill level in solving problems ?
